FEAR : Don’t let it take you down
In work as in life, there are times that when you have to go that extra mile to achieve that which you desire. However, most of us hesitate to go out and grab what we want. The reason for this is FEAR, it is what keeps us quiet in those meetings, what stops us from giving opinions to our management, it is what keeps us from doing different or innovative things dreading what “new” thing this might require of us. Here are a few essential tips to put you on the road of conquering fear.
Grab a Happy Thought
As soon as you experience the physical signs of fear(sweaty palms, racing heart, nervous feelings, etc.), stop whatever you’re doing and grab a happy
thought from your happy thought repository. If you don’t have one, make one up and lucidly live through it until those scary feelings subside.
When afraid, jump in!
When you’re stricken with fear just before starting a new activity, instead of surrendering to the thought of what you’re afraid of; just jump into doing it right away. By restricting yourself from mulling over the situation you stop your mind from creating a big-deal-fear.
Fear happens in your mind
Refuse to let others plant thoughts in your mind.Just because you hear someone relate a less-than-wonderful experience doing what you’re about to do does not mean you’ll go through the same occurrences of that person. Think for yourself because you get to experience life on your terms.
I just want to end this article on a question you should ask yourself.
Who is more foolish, the child afraid of the dark or the man afraid of the light?
