Anger : Control it before it takes control of you

Do you find yourself fuming when someone cuts you off in traffic? Does your blood pressure go through the roof when a co-worker just won’t co-operate with you. In case you’re unaware, you are under the influence of the most natural emotion; anger. It is a normal outbreak of emotional disturbance, but too much of it can cause complications for your health and personal life. Here are some easy tips to help you manage that temper for a progressive and smooth work flow.

State your feelings
To begin the process of moving on and forgiving, you must first feel the anger, admit to it, express it and talk about it, this then escorts you to the healthy conclusion of ‘letting it go’. So when you feel that lump in your throat that you suppress and shove back down, admit to it, understand it and talk about it to someone close.

Don’t believe everything you think
We are bombarded with thousands of negative thoughts everyday but we don’t pay attention to those many positive things that go our way. Our brains tend to dwell on things that are unlikely to happen; it’s called MSU (Making Stuff Up). So when you catch your mind flowing towards the realms of the negative, command it to “Stop!”

Count to 10
Most of us have heard this too-good-to-be-true technique, because it works! Counting to 10 helps you switch your attention to keep your mind busy elsewhere, causing the anger to dissipate.

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned
